With the pandemic in the rearview mirror, I would like to thank all of our loyal customers, as well as new customers, who had the confidence to select Dustbusters as their service provider, of choice, throughout the challenging time.
When the pandemic first hit and everything shut down, I wondered if we could survive this global threat. But, soon we were deemed "essential" and allowed to stay open. Then the phone started ringing again, and again, and again, and as grateful as we were for everyones' business, my son, Anthony, and I, quickly became overwhelmed and realized that we needed more people. But, like most businesses, we had great difficulty finding candidates and could not even hire a single person!

Dustbusters is proud to have been a participant and cleaned the ducts for a house being built for a selected family and filmed for the ABC TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" during 2009 in nearby Suffield, CT.! Many local contractors volunteered their time to build the new home. In most cases there was more than one subcontractor working "in concert" with each other to complete the work associated with a particular trade, such as wiring, sheetrock, etc. However, when it came to the duct cleaning portion, Dustbusters Duct Cleaning was the sole contractor selected to clean all of the HVAC ducts! Upon receiving the news, I was humbled and will always be grateful to them for having asked Dustbusters to get involved with this project.
I am thankful to our duct cleaning technicians, who did a great job, as always. I am also thankful to my wife, who had braved an absolute downpour to help me serve food and beverages, under the refreshment tent, to the weary and rain-soaked volunteer trades persons, camera crew, etc., even as the resulting rain water nipped at our heels. NEWS: DUSTBUSTERS GOES GREEN!
DUSTBUSTERS RECYCLES! Each day, we remove the trash generated, as a result of carrying out our work, and separate the scrap sheet metal, from other debris and also place plastic bottles/containers and aluminum cans into their respective bins for recycling!
CHEMICALS, CHEMICALS AND LESS CHEMICALS! Dustbusters is in the process of evaluating products which contain no VOC's or are low VOC compounds to replace products currently used in its daily operations. Dustbusters has recently completed their first job using a low VOC product to seal the joints of a heating and air conditioning duct system located in an attic. First the fiberglass-based duct insulation was removed from the exterior surface of the duct. Then the duct sealer was applied to all joints. During this process a 4" gap was discovered in the main supply duct which was repaired then sealed. Finally, the duct was reinsulated using a non-fiberglass-based product. BONUS ENERGY $$$ SAVINGS! The large gap coupled with the leaky joints throughout the system probably contributed to the homeowner's unusually high heating bills since a major portion of heat was lost to the attic space!
AIR FILTERS. WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW MAY HURT YOU! Many air filters contain VOC's such as formaldehyde, which contribute to poor indoor air quality. Most people do not find this offensive. However, some people are so sensitive to these chemicals that they experience discomfort. To combat this, Dustbusters offers a service whereby filters are pre-offgassed ("neutralized") before they are installed in place in the heating and/or air conditioning system. Dustbusters' customers can now breathe easier from the day the new filter is installed. In addition, you may be interested to know that products are available which can be retrofitted to most systems which work to remove VOC's and other indoor pollutants from your ENTIRE home or business, thereby further improving indoor air quality.
TIP OF THE MONTH: Sometimes people wonder how often they should check and/or replace their furnace filter. The short answer is: That depends on the type and thickness of the filter being used. If you have a 1" or 2" thick filter, check it every 30 days. In most cases, you will need to replace it every 60-90 days. If you have a 4" or 5" thick filter, check it every 6 months. In most cases you will need to replace these filters every 10 - 12 months. Dustbusters stocks a variety of filters which are most common to most heating systems. If you have specific questions and/or would like to purchase replacement filters, we would be happy to help!
